Equitable resolutions outside the courtroom.

I may not have had the pleasure to meet you during my three terms on the bench in the 6th Judicial Circuit. If not, I’d like to introduce myself as I embark on my new career as a mediator. After many years presiding over civil trials, family law and probate, I hung up my robe, put down the gavel and retired on December 31, 2020.

I’ve decided to put my experience in courtrooms to work in mediation rooms helping to get disputes resolved fairly and efficiently. I believe the scope of my judicial experience will lend itself to my being seen as someone who has credibility with all parties to a dispute. Having seen the results of many cases over many years, I’ve seen great results, but also some devastating losses. The mediation process will help me meet my goal of helping litigants avoid the risk of letting important decisions be made by others, if, and only if, resolution is fair to all parties concerned.

It’s so important that litigants in mediation be treated with respect and listen to each other. I do not believe in applying inappropriate pressure, however, I will be forceful in getting people to listen to each other and consider all options. Creative solutions can, and do, exist. I want to help you and your clients find them.

While you likely have your favorite mediators, I would be very appreciative if you would consider choosing me to work with you in your next mediation. I’ve tried very hard to keep an even handed, calm and respectful approach in my time on the bench. I promise to give solid effort and be very persistent in helping parties find common ground in seeking an amicable conclusion, even in the most difficult and complex cases.
